THE DYLAN / KNOPFLER STORY (part 2)

some important updates

It's a small world after all.
Things are always different when you look from another perspective.
The first part of this Dylan-Knopfler story was beautiful, but incomplete.

I told you how Bob and Mark met after a Dire Straits concert 29-3-1979,based on information from Clinton Heylin's chronology and my own research. Dire Straits performed songs from the self titled first album and the forthcoming Communiqué.

Recordings for that album took place from 22-12-1978 till 28-12-1978 at Compass Point Studios, Nassau, Bahamas. The studios were founded by Chris Blackwell in 1977 and played an important role in reggae and independent music. Last sessions for Communiqué were in Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Sheffield, Alabama. Both sessions were produced by Jerry Wexler and Barry Beckett, both known for producing Dylan albums Slow Train Coming and Saved....

So, it's not that strange that Dylan walked in at a Dire Straits concert before himself going into the studio to record Slow Train Coming. Also it's not that strange that Knopfler returned to Muscle Shoals in April/May after working there before in January under the same producers.
